{"id":479,"date":"2014-09-08T21:12:36","date_gmt":"2014-09-08T21:12:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.eatoncheshire.co.uk\/?page_id=479"},"modified":"2017-01-31T08:42:59","modified_gmt":"2017-01-31T08:42:59","slug":"broadband-roll-out","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.eatoncheshire.co.uk\/index.php\/eaton-parish-council\/broadband-roll-out\/","title":{"rendered":"Broadband roll out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are aware that there are issues with broadband across the village, with poor speeds encountered by many residents.<\/p>\n<p>We are working with Cheshire East to try and get broadband rolled out across the village and some properties will be upgraded over the next 2 years. The main issue is due to distance from the cabinet with some of the village being served from Macclesfield and some from Congleton.<\/p>\n<p>Cheshire East issued in December 2016 a new schedule for broadband roll out that shows the village as being redefined from already\/about to have fibre now to having an assured fibre roll out in summer 2018 &#8211; which suggests some acknowledgement that the services they claimed we had are not what residents are experiencing on a day to day basis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Latest Roll out Schedule December 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-978\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eatoncheshire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/broadband-01302017-300x246.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"490\" height=\"402\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.eatoncheshire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/broadband-01302017-300x246.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.eatoncheshire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/broadband-01302017.jpg 680w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 490px) 100vw, 490px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Cheshire East has launched a subsidy scheme to help those people receiving a download speed of less than 2Mbps. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.connectingcheshire.org.uk\/satellite-subsidy-scheme\">You can check your eligibility here and apply online<\/a> (somewhat tricky I know if you have poor broadband).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.which.co.uk\/technology\/broadband-tv-and-phone\/guides\/speed-test-your-internet-connection\/\">Click here to test your broadband speed.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We are also working with another provider Vispa who is looking at alternative technology and are currently developing a solution for use in Gawsworth which we may well be able to adopt in Eaton &#8211; if we have the demand.\u00a0This project is being led by Gawsworth parish council and they will keep us updated with progress, in the meantime <a href=\"http:\/\/www.betterbroadband.org.uk\/\">their website tells you all about where they are up to with VISPA.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vispa.net\/\">More information on VISPA can be <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vispa.net\/\">found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.betterbroadband.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Vispa-A5-Leaflet.pdf\">This flyer explains a little bit more about their offering<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/The registration website is http:\/\/www.vispa.net\/register.\">You can register your interest here to help them build a commercial case for development<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime there are some hints and tips on the link below that will help you maximise the speed you currently get.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.connectingcheshire.org.uk\/media\/819969\/Improve-your-broadband-speed.pdf\">CLICK HERE FOR TIPS ON HOW TO GET THE MOST FROM YOUR BROADBAND<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The reasons for this lack of deployment to date as given by Cheshire East are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The amount of coverage that can be provided,<\/li>\n<li>The speeds the end users will receive,<\/li>\n<li>The cost of deployment,<\/li>\n<li>Whether an eligible small or medium sized business would be serviced<\/li>\n<li>If the exchange serving the area has already been upgraded to fibre.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are aware that there are issues with broadband across the village, with poor speeds encountered by many residents.
